Playing to Williamsburg's ever present irony, Macao Trading Co. veteran Mark Rancourt and Robert Krueger of Employees Only are aiming for a mid-November launch of Extra Fancy, taking over 302 Metropolitan Ave. Inspired by New England's sea shacks, clam rolls, chowder and fried fish favorites from the Eastern Seaboard will dominate the menu, along with an extensive selection of cocktails, beer and wine on tap and a high-and-low-brow canned beer selection. Large plates will go for under $16.
The indoor space, which an Eater operative got a peek at this weekend, is composed of wrap-around banquets and cozy booths overlooking exposed brick, wood paneling, and salvaged fixtures and vintage finds. A massive outdoor space will debut in the spring.
The restaurant, which counts Fette Sau, Roebling Tea Room, St. Anselm, Momofuku Milk Bar, and Spuyten Duyvilas its neighbors, is just the latest new spot to open in this Metropolitan Ave. gastronome junction in the last two years.
