After a slight delay, Spasso, restaurateur Bobby Werhane's new rustic Italian spot in the old Alfama space, will open to the public tonight. If the above space looks similar to fellow West Villagers Dell'Anima and L'Artusi, well, there's a reason for that. The restaurants share the same designer Brooke Maples, who used neutral tones on the windowed corned space and added ample seating at the bar with high backed stools.
As for the menu, it's helmed by Lupa and Convivio alum Craig Wallen and includes handmade pastas, breads baked in house, cured meats, cheese, and dishes like ribolita soup, fritto misto, grilled lamb chops, and orecchiette with rock shrimp. Also on offer: Italian cocktails and a large menu of vermouths, apertifs, and digestifs. The full menu with prices is not yet available but entrees top out at $26, appetizers at $13.
