Restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow gets in touch regarding today's reports that he's opening Kutsher's Deli with the family of famed but aging Borscht Belt (Catskills) resort Kutsher's Hotel. He tells Eater he was approached by family member Zach Kutsher "and a very prominent member of the Jewish community in Tribeca" to see if he was interested in opening a "modern Jewish inspired bistro" (not kosher) in Tribeca, featuring updated and classic versions of many of the dishes served at the old hotel. Chodorow writes, "Having participated in the 'Catskill experience' myself as a child, I thought it was a great idea." More details will come as the place gets closer to opening, but he says it's way beyond a typical delicatessen.
