The Garden Spot Cafe, Fredi Sandwich Bar, Tuffet Now Open

1) Greenpoint: The Garden Spot Cafe, a new restaurant in the old Greenpoint Coffee House space, opened on New Year's Day. The new owners spiffed up the old dining room, it now serves cheap, standard diner fare, including an extensive line of breakfast burritos. Status: Certified Open; 195 Franklin St.

2) Greenwich Village: Fredi Sandwich Bar, a sandwich shop and bar is now open (and has five five-star reviews on Yelp!). They serve up hot and cold sandwiches, including a pork meatball banh mi and tandoori chicken salad. Status: Certified open; 28 E. 12th St., 212-242-0444.

3) Williamsburg: Tuffet, a cheese/meat/bar from a Market Table alum is now open, with 15 rotating cheeses, cured and cooked meats, salads, and a full bar with wine on tap. Status: Certified open; 286 Graham Ave., 718-388-7434.

4) West Village: PR sends word that Bobby Werhane's newest restaurant (he's the man in charge of Choptank in the West Village) Spasso will officially open to the public tomorrow. The opening of the 65-seat Italian joint was pushed back from a couple of weeks ago. Status: Opening tomorrow; 551 Hudson Street, 212-858-3838.
