More and More Food Trucks Going Brick and Mortar in 2011

Last year brought brick and mortar outposts from a smattering of food trucks, including Calexico, the Cupcake Stop, NYC Cravings, and the Dessert Truck. And that trend will not abate in 2011. Today Midtown Lunch reports that the popular Schnitzel & Things truck has signed a lease on a restaurant space on 3rd Avenue between 45th and 46th Streets. Expect the same favorites from the truck plus a menu of specials, sides, desserts, and a new veal dish. They'll open in February or March.

Meanwhile, New York Street Food brings word that the relatively new Souvlaki GR truck is opening an outpost of its own on the Lower East Side "with the intention of bringing the ambiance of old-town Mykonos to downtown New York in the most authentic manner possible." Again, they'll have a similar menu to the truck, with a few more options and hope to open by the first of March.
