For years, ever since 2005 apparently, Yelp has had a filter on its review pages that aims to keep out the shills of business owners, their friends, and employees. How well does it work? Let's take a look at the newly opened Fredi Sandwich Bar on 12th Street between University and 5th to see. The following three five star reviews were filtered out:

—I stopped by on opening day and had the roasted eggplant on a baguette...wow!!! SO good! The bread is amazing. I'll definitely be back.
—Best sandwich menu in NYC! My favorites are the crunchy tilapia, pork banh mi and BBQ brisket. Don't leave without a carrot cake sandwich for dessert! Yum!
—Great neighborhood place! Every sandwich is delicious. My favorite is the meatloaf with ceddar cheese and horseradish dressing. Good for lunch and dinner.
Sounds shilly, makes sense. But check out the reviews that were left in:

Those all seem totally above board.
