Last week, we learned about What Happens When, John Fraser's soon-to-open pop-up restaurant that's a joint project between the chef, and a team of designers and a musician. Now it seems that Park Avenue Winter is also getting in the artsy fun with a series of collaborations with artists from non-profit Creative Time.
To kick things off, famed performance artist Marina Abramovic worked with chef Kevin Lasko on a $20 dessert called the Volcano Flambe. It's basically a meringue covered ice cream ball, decorated with gold leaf and spun sugar that's lit on fire. But it's also presented tableside with an MP3 player with commentary from Abramovic, and a limited edition recipe booklet from the artist.
The dessert is available now until March 20. After that, the Park Avenue team will create seasonal dishes with artists Janine Antoni, Paul Ramirez Jonas and Michael Rakowitz, which will no doubt be just as strange.
