1) Boerum Hill: The Strong Buzz brings word of TJ's, a new Italian restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Caserta Vecchia. The two owners are natives of Siciliy while chef John Ciccinelli serves up homemade pastas as well as hand-tossed pizzas. They're strictly cash only and BYOB at present. Status: Certified open; 221 Smith St., 718-522-4120.
2) Midtown East: We hear from PR that, as reported last week, Tulsi, a high-end Indian restaurant from Dévi founding co-chef Hemant Mathur, will open today. The restaurant is friends and family-run—on board are longtime friend Dhandu Ram, formerly of Yuva, and wife Surbhi Sahni, former pastry chef at Dévi. The menu includes tandoor items like Wild Boar Chops and Hemant's Lamb Chops and street cart chaats like Punjabi Pani Puri. They're currently open daily for dinner from 5:30 to 10:30 PM but will expand to lunch service next Monday.
Also of note, Mathur tells Gael Greene that he'll consult here and continue to cook at Devi. Interesting. (Update: Sam Sifton notes, it is the opposite: he'll be at Tulsi permanently and consult at Devi.) Status: Opens tonight; 211 E. 46th St., 212-888-0820.
3) Tribeca: Tribeca Citizen reports that a new location of Yorganic is now open. They serve organic yogurt, sandwiches, soups, and rice bowls. Status: Certified open; 275 Greenwich St.
4) East Village: Fork in the Road notices that King Gyro has opened on First Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. Status: Signs point to open.
