The first of two big Michael White openings this fall, Osteria Morini makes its debut on Monday, October 4. White and his team spent the better part of a year—while also running his restaurant empire and cutting deals in Hong Kong and at LaGuardia—scouring Italian markets, scavenging flea markets and old properties to create the rustic trattoria in Soho seen above. And it looks just as good as he said it would. He'll hate the comparison but it's a little bit Il Buco with its rusticity, a little bit DBGB/Maialino with its copper pot and framed photo lined walls, with a teensy bit of this place thrown in. The food here is signature White but a tad more casual, a tad more affordable with plenty of pastas, stews, grilled meats, and spreads and snacks ranging from $10 - $36.
