One restaurant closes, another one opens. Such is the circle of life at 33 Avenue of the Americas, the cursed space that has housed no less than three concepts in the last year and a half, most recently Terrance Brennan's flop Bar Artisanal Restaurant & Tapas Bar. There were rumors of a Todd English takeover, but over the weekend a tipster spotted workers affixing the name for a new Mexican place, Pelea, to the bright red awning, with a sign in the window noting that an opening is slated for late October. Will guac and margies succeed where papas bravas and sangria could not? Hopefully. In Spanish, Pelea means "fight," so perhaps this new concept will have the moxy to make it work.
