When affordable and ambitious neighborhood spot Knife + Fork closed closed in June there was an outpouring of support in the comments from its fans and a little bit of anger from those who hadn't heard of the place (and blamed the food blogs for not highlighting it enough). Well fans, you're in luck. Chef Damien Brassel contacted Eater to report that he is reviving his old restaurant in the upcoming Percy's Tavern, opening next month on Avenue A and 13th St.
It's a large space, three times the original Knife + Fork. Percy's is the bar section, which will serve bar food from Brassel (think, Scotch eggs, fish 'n' chips) and will offer 16 beers on draft, and 20 "artisanal" imported brews by the bottle.
Behind the bar will be the restaurant space with tables and banquettes, and behind that, in a hidden room, sits a 10 person private chef's table. The overall theme here is Celtic, and Brassel says he will serve food from Scotland, Wales, Sweden, Ireland, and other nearby locales. Just like at Knife + Fork, there will be alarmingly affordable prix fixe options in addition to the a la carte menu. The wine list will cover all kinds of global offerings from the likes of New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and others.
If all goes well, Percys/Knife + Fork will open on October 14.
