Aces and Eights Loses Liquor License, Hopes For Fresh Start

New, 1 comment

Soon after the Dept of Health shut Aces and Eights down for operating without any of the required permits, the Lo Down discovers that the SLA has stripped the bar's liquor license. The bar had been operating on a temporary license for 18 months after taking over the space from Mo Pitkins, which the SLA can and did revoke it without a hearing. Aces and Eights recently hired new management after its DOH run in and were planning to get the bar re-opened quickly, hoping for a fresh start with the neighborhood that despises them. To achieve this, the bar is holding a naming contest that is open to employees, customers and LES and East Village residents alike. The bar's new manager told EV Grieve that the contest "will give people a chance to help us rebrand and change our image; it will give residents an opportunity to help shape what kind of establishment we will become." Naming a bar without a liquor license isn't much of a contest. What about SuperDive South? Your suggestions are welcome in the comments!
