In honor of this weekend's Le Grand Fooding coastal cook-off, San Francisco chef Daniel Patterson takes on West Coast cuisine in a largely beautiful meditation on what it means to tell a story with food. But he manages to squeeze some jabs in at the end: "New Yorkers' love affair with tuna tartare has inexplicably entered its third decade. Every dish seems to have bacon in it...
