200 firefighters descended on Murray Hill last night to combat a five alarm fire at Lebanese restaurant Byblos and its neighbor The Frontier Coffee Shop. It broke out just past midnight—and kept Bloomberg critic Ryan Sutton awake all night—and raged on throughout the morning. As of 9 AM, the streets around 39th and 3rd Avenue were still closed.
NY1 has the full report and a clip. Fast forward to the 1:30 mark to hear the neighbors talk about their love for the restaurant (great Lebanese food, live music) and the coffee shop (family owned for 36 years).
