Oak Room Chef Eric Hara Plans Two Astoria Restaurants

New, 4 comments

Today in the Fall Preview beat, reps for Eric Hara, chef at the Plaza's The Oak Room and alum of Fishtail, announce that he is opening two new projects in Astoria this fall. Neither of the two projects have names, so Queens locals will have to get by on the descriptions for now.

First up, opening in September is a "forty seat modern global café in a light, Nordic design inspired setting" serving "contemporary American fare with global touches." Meanwhile, in October he's opening a mega-resto, a 250 seat sushi bar and restaurant that, gotta love this, "sports a flowy sexy design and offers lots of lounge friendly sharables, full on sushi, and a tight contemporary American menu with influences from Mediterranean, France and Asia." It's giant, flowy, and sexy? Astoria: big win.
