Over the weekend, a number of tipsters wrote in to report on the new troubles at Veritas, the often excellent yet underpopulated 11 year-old fine dining spot in Gramercy helmed by the young Gregory Pugin. One writes, "Gregory Pugin and his whole kitchen staff were fired yesterday at Veritas. Completely locked out of the restaurant unable even to pick up their knives until Monday." Per another tipster: "Veritas suddenly closed for 'renovations' apparently none of their staff or vendors were aware of the fact until they reported to work today."
Meanwhile, a notice on the restaurant's website and a newsletter sent out to regulars and fans say it's just closed for renovations and promise that a "new and exciting Veritas" will open this fall:
Veritas was a restaurant most frequently nominated by Eater readers to be re-reviewed. Perhaps no longer.
