The Lambs Club, a restaurant from chef Geoffrey Zakarian and David Rabin that has been in the works for the better part of the last three years, is now beginning to slowly unveil itself to the public. It opened for breakfast to hotel guests at the newly revamped Chatwal Hotel late last week, and is open to the public as of today. Lunch comes next week, dinner after Labor Day. They've waited this long, might as well get it right, no?
The name here stems from the history of the Stanford White designed building—it was the home of the Lambs, a prestigious acting group in the early 1900s. And the design of the 80 seat restaurant as well as the mezzanine lounge is meant to evoke a clubby (though colorful it seems) atmosphere with those red leather banquettes, chrome fixtures, and large black and white portraits of the original Lambs members. As for the food, they've yet to release the menus but Zakarian is shooting for a "Modern American" menu leaning on, what else, seasonal ingredients. Since some of the partners here (Rabin, Will Regan, Jeffrey Jah) come from a nightlife background, expect a push for a strong bar scene, especially when it comes to Midtown after work cocktails.
