Trendy Mexican restaurant La Esquina just can't catch a break with the city. Back in May, the Department of Buildings closed the place while following up on a tip from a pissed off neighbor. And now the Department of Health has slapped a bright yellow sticker on its door, revealing that it failed a random health inspection yesterday. The report has yet to go on the DOH website, but according to the above signage, La Esquina hopes to reopen by this evening.
Update: La Esquina's statement: "La Esquina temporarily suspended service yesterday evening in order to make mechanical repairs to an improperly functioning kitchen appliance. We anticipate reopening for lunch service starting Wednesday, August 18. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers."
