The location of roast beef chain Arby's in the famed and landmarked Gage & Tollner space in downtown Brooklyn has closed, just seven months after its heavily covered opening. All that work getting approval from the Landmarks Preservation Committee, finding a way to integrate their fast food menu and illuminated signage with the gas lamps, and appeasing the neighbors was for naught.
Remember this is one of the only two landmarked restaurant interiors in the city, and both T.G.I. Friday's and now Arby's have failed to make it work. Maybe an actual independent restaurateur could give it a shot. Or, maybe they're smart enough to know the place is haunted.
