Idle Hands Almost Ready To Welcome Basement Imbibers

The basement of the NOLA themed Billy Hurricane's will be the more tranquil Idle Hands, a bourbon and beer friendly bar that will offer a cocktail list that is more classic than mixology. The pairing with its apparently more raucous upstairs neighbor seemed a little strange, but Idle Hands owner Marc Schapiro sees strength in numbers, saying, "we'll have separate entrances and obviously do our own marketing since our target customers are totally different. I guess you can compare it to Three Of Cups the restaurant vs Three Of Cups the dive bar. Same corporation...totally different crowd!" Schapiro says the original plan was to find their own space and call it One Barrel Bar, but the Hurricane's team showed them the space and they created a partnership. Schapiro tells Eater they "changed our name to Idle Hands because of the ambiance of the space". The bar will only have waitress service available to start until they can get a license upgrade to a full service bar, which should only take about a lifetime unless the licensing policies undergo some radical change. More coverage can be found here and here. Opening soon!
