Last week, some industry insiders told Eater that Shea Gallante, a talented chef who made a name for himself at Cru and then went on to a brief stint at the corporate offices of Bouley last year, was considering making a big return to New York City at the soon to open restaurant Ciano. Today, Gallante confirms the news to the Times. Located in the old Beppe space, Ciano will serve Italian fare but the menu will be "inspired more by seasonality than by allegiance to the cuisine of any particular Italian region."
Stratis Morfogen, the operator of the space, also owns a slew of Philippe restaurants. The restaurant is scheduled to open this September.
