Florence Fabricant reports that Thomas Keller plans to open a second New York branch of his Bouchon Bakery at 1 Rockefeller Plaza at 48th Street, replacing high end grocer Dean & Deluca.
It's a marquee space that is constantly swarmed by tourists, so the move is a smart one for Keller. Flo Fab notes that unlike the Bouchon at Columbus Circle, this one will have no waiter service. Oh, and Keller axed previous plans to open Bouchons all over the city selling goods made in a commissary in Queens. Everything at Rock Center will be made in-house.
It opens next March.
