David Burke Said to be Cooking at New James Hotel

New, 12 comments

James New York, the new boutique hotel on the site of the Moondance Diner, will open to the public in this September. PR can't yet confirm, but multiple tipsters (some within the hotel) report chef David Burke, the inventor of the cheesecake lollipop and a great bowling enthusiast, will be in charge of the "chef-driven restaurant" off the lobby. It will be interesting to see how involved the chef is with the space, given he has his hands full with his mini empire uptown and his consulting gig with Bowlmor in Times Square. Regardless, we're looking forward to seeing what he does, especially in comparison to what Jimmy Bradley and Todd English will soon have going on at the Nolitan and the Great Jones Hotel. Lord knows the hoteliers fought with Soho hard enough just to get a liquor license.
