[Krieger, 6/29/10]

Late last week, La Gazzetta, the first part of the multipurpose restaurant space Villa Pacri, opened to the public. Located in the former, giant Merkato 55 space, Gazzetta is a ground level cafe and grocer. In the cafe, find Italian influenced fare including speck and fontina paninis and chickpea fritters from Dell'Anima alum Michael Berardino. In the connected retail space, they offer olive oils, pastas, cured meats, bread, and a variety of pantry staples and pre-made desserts. It seats 75 and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 8 AM - 2 AM.

The upper and lower levels of the Merkato space (which will contatin a subterranean bar, a formal restaurant, a banquet hall and a rooftop garden) will open soon.
