SCRATCHbread, the Brooklyn baked goods operation that currently sells bread, scones, brownies, and other goods through cafes around town and directly at the Brooklyn Flea has, after a year in operation, found a brick and mortar space to work out of in Bed-Stuy. They want to open a wholesale business with a retail component but, well, they're broke! They needed a donation just to get the lease. Following in the footsteps of the Brooklyn Grange rooftop farm, the ScratchBread folks have gone to Kickstarter, the community fund raising website to try to get the money together. Click over to read their mission statement ("Without you, SCRATCHbread is nothing, but with you, we can create the biggest food movement our culture has ever seen.") and see the video. So far they have $2,000 of the $25,000 they want.
