Back in April, word came that Alan Harding, the Brooklyn restaurant empire builder, was launching a food truck—an outfitted 1962 Chevy Curbmaster 'Kustard King'—in the yard of the newly opened Hot Bird on Clinton and Atlantic. He writes in today and posts on the blog to say it's opening this Friday:
"So after three inspections and mucho dinero I, Alan Harding, am a fully licensed mobile food vendor. The hardest part of the whole process was the waiting, every time you fail an inspection you have a two week wait to get a new appointment. I passed on July 13 2010, let the games begin." The man has opened over a dozen restaurants in the last decade (and closed a fair share)—can he handle the mobile food world? The menu is below.
