Vapiano, Zenkichi, Kung Fu Bing, Choza All Coming Soon

1) Greenwich Village: Vapiano, the German-based casual Italian eatery, will open up on University and 13th Street early next week. The chain, which has locations in six other U.S. cities, has described itself as "fast-casual cross between Mario Batali and Chipotle with uber-style." Another Italian-style Chipotle wannabe? At least this one serves alcohol and boasts it will have a "lively happy hour scene." [PLYWOOD]

2) Greenwich Village: A few tipsters have written in to note that the old Senor Swanky's location on Bleecker and LaGuardia is now covered in plywood. And Bowery Boogie gets a shot of it. A new bar was proposed for the space at this week's CB2 meeting, but they were denied. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

3) Flatiron: Midtown Lunch notices signage for Choza Taqueria on Madison and 27th Street. The taqueria has another branch in that little food court called the Open Air Cafe down on Centre Street.

4) Nolita: Bowery Boogie notices that work has begun on the new Manhattan location of Japanese restaurant Zenkichi at 150 Bowery. [BB]

5) Ditmas Park: Ditmas Park Blog reports that the owners of Prospect Heights' Milk Bar are opening a "French Art Deco" coffee shop called Cafe Madeline at 1603 Cortelyou Rd. [PLYWOOD]

6) East Village: Thanks to a reader comment on EV Grieve, it seems as though the small space at 165 Avenue A (formerly Monk's Thrift Shop) will sell bagels. No word yet on if they'll sell squagels. [PLYWOOD]

7) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie has shots of promotional posters that have gone up at the Il Laboratorio del Gelato outpost at 188 Ludlow St. They were supposed to open July 1, but photos show there's still a lot of build out left. However, it will have expanded seating and a "retail component". [PLYWOOD]

8) Hell's Kitchen: Life with Food and Drink grabs a picture of the facade of the upcoming Blackburn Burger Bistro on 9th between 47th and 48th - a stone's throw from 5 Napkin. "Help Wanted" sign is in the window, so it shouldn't be too long. [PLYWOOD]

9) Bushwick: Feast reports that the owners of Bozu will open Momo Sushi Shack at 43 Bogart St in about three weeks. They just snagged a liquor license, so you know it's business time. [PLYWOOD]

10) Soho: Grub Street posts renderings of Francois Payard's takeover of the old My Befana space. The collaboration with A Voce owner Marlon Abela will be a bakery and cafe with a 20-seat dining room and big takeout component. [PLYWOOD]

11) Lower East Side: Fork in the Road grabs a new shot of Kung Fu Bing, opening soon on East Houston. [PLYWOOD]
