Welcome back to the weekly Friday Shutter. Know of any other restaurant that has met its demise? Let us know.
1) Midtown: [Update: Destino is not permanently shuttered and will reopen in September. It is temporarily closed because a burst pipe sent 4,000 gallons of water through the space.] A tipster writes, "Destino on First at 50th is closed and the space is for rent. They had signs up saying they were undergoing repairs (as does the website), but there are now real estate signs in the windows." [ShutterWire]
2) Lower East Side: Bowery Boogie reports that The Doghouse Saloon on Orchard Street in the old Annex space has closed for good. It was only open for nine months. [BB]
3) Meatpacking District: Another tipster reports that Sweetheart Bakery on 8th Ave. between 13th and 14th street closed last weekend: "Too bad – their coffee was great. Hope Eric can open up another shop elsewhere." [ShutterWire]
4) Midtown: Midtown Lunch reports that Piece of Chicken on 45th between 8th and 9th has been gutted. [ML]
