Grand Ribbon Cutting, Stilt Walker at TGI Fridays Opening

New, 9 comments

Although the TGI Fridays in Union Square has been peddling its unique take on American comfort food for a few weeks now, today was the official grand opening, and what a grand opening it was! A stilt walker was there, handing out fliers advertising 15 percent off all food (offer good all day today!), and there was an official ribbon cutting ceremony that Borough President Scott Stringer was supposed to but (sadface) didn't attend. In a brief speech, it was noted that the Riese Organization had made significant donations to Union Square Park, and that the 'Summer In the Square' concert series couldn't have been possible without them. In case you were wondering, this is the 1000th location of Friday's to open up, worldwide. Also, it'll probably be the first one to somewhat source from the Greenmarket.
