Finally, New Life for the Shells of Fratastic Señor Swanky's

New, 1 comment

A new notice hanging on the door of the Upper West Side location of Señor Swanky's, the fratty Mexican joint that closed back in April, reveals that a new operation called Bar Cotto is hoping to takeover the space. Whomever is behind the space—the Community Board 7 agenda doesn't say—will make their case before its UWS neighbors tomorrow.

Meanwhile, another reader reports that the more infamous Swanky's location in the Village, which closed almost exactly two years ago and has been sitting as an empty shell ever since—finally has a fresh application of plywood. A group called GMT New York—could be the Greenwich Meantime Bar that recently withdrew an application for 8th St.—is applying for a liquor license tonight at the CB2 meeting.
