Last month, a trusted tipster sent word that restaurateur Danny Meyer was in talks to take over two spaces within the Embassy Suites hotel complex in Battery Park City. A Tribeca Citizen reader confirmed, and when Grub Street contacted Meyer's PR about a potential restaurant, they replied, "Shake Shack's definitely a growing business, and our whole company is growing as well." But they didn't specifically ask about Shake Shack.
Now comes this from this piece about the complex from The Broadsheet Daily:
Applebee's restaurant closed earlier this year, and sources familiar with ongoing negotiations say that several other restaurants currently located in the pedestrian arcade between the hotel and the Goldman headquarters buildings are in discussions about relocating or shutting entirely, while Goldman negotiates with eateries such as Adrienne's Pizza and the Shake Shack about opening there.
The complex, owned by Goldman Sachs, is currently in flux as locals have rumored that the hotel, the movie theater, and perhaps the DSW shoe store will close within the next year, giving Golden the opportunity to reshape the identity of the area. Perhaps with the help of Danny Meyer.
