La Superior, the charming Mexican restaurant in South Williamsburg, opened two years ago with mostly positive reviews. What they opened without was a liquor license. It seemed to be held up due to its proximity to a day care facility and church, which runs afoul of the recently tightened 200' and 500' rules. Also, of course, there was that famous SLA backlog.
Maybe it was the quality of the food or the lack of competition in the neighborhood, or maybe it was their rather lax enforcement of the State's BYO laws, but somehow La Superior managed to survive without the profits that alcohol sales provide. No matter, because La Superior's dry days are finally over! Steroegum's Amrit Singh broke the news via Twitter, saying "LA SUPERIOR GOT ITS LIQUOR LICENSE. That is all. But good God is that enough." A quick check of the SLA website confirms it. Margaritas for everyone!
