Abe and Arthur's Team Secures Space for New Seafood Concept

Eugene Remm, Mark Birnbaum and Michael Hirtenstein, the partners behind Abe and Arthur's, SL, and Tenjune, have finally secured a lease for a new Meatpacking District space near 13th Street and 9th Avenue that they have been after for several months. Eater managed to track down the global force that is Eugene Remm, who tells us that EMM is planning to open a seafood restaurant and lounge in a 12,000 square foot, three story space, which will include a full enclosed roof deck. Abe and Arthur's chef Franklin Becker will oversee the restaurant operations at first, and will most likely bring on a full time executive chef after getting things up and running. Why seafood? Remm says a great seafood restaurant is the one glaring hole in the MePa's offerings. (R.I.P John Dory) The ink on the lease is still wet, with an opening targeted for summer 2011. No word if they will be naming this place after their grandmothers.
