A Now Serious Cheap Shots Reopens as Spanky and Darla's

New, 13 comments

Cheap Shots, the infamous First Avenue dive bar that the city shuttered earlier this month citing 'illegal activities' has reopened and undergone a name change. A visit today found the bar celebrating its grand re-opening with drink specials, and the guard inside the door told Eater that the bar has been renamed Spanky and Darla's, an ode to the classic Little Rascals pack. The bar, legendary for a lax carding policy that eventually lead to this month's shuttering, now has a sign on the door warning customers that now everyone will be carded because "unfortunately, the under 21 crowd and NYU have inspired the police to go undercover and they look old!"
