3) Upper West Side: While TGI Fridays sullies the facade of their old location in Union Square, Zen Palate is opening a new branch at 239 West 105th St according to the Westside Independent. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

4) West Village: Jeremiah's Vanishing New York laments the loss of Left Bank Books and Lee's Laundry, and notes that a new restaurant with lots of copper detailing is going into the joint space. [PRE-PLYWOOD]

5) Williamsburg: Grub Street has some interiors of Old Rooster, a "polish-style beer hall" opening on North 4th St. whose owner has roots in finance. [PLYWOOD]

8) Greenwood Heights: Brownstoner posts a shot of signage for Brooklyn Pub, a venue serving pub food with Italian flourishes at 689 6th Ave. [PLYWOOD]

9) Prospect Heights: The Brooklyn Paper brings word that a Mexican restaurant from the folks at Chavella is opening at the corner of Franklin Ave and Sterling St. However, it will not be a branch of Chavella. [PLYWOOD]

10) Bushwick: The Brooklyn Paper also reports that a bar called the Pine Box Rock Shop (it was formerly a casket manufacturer) hopes to open by "early next month". [PLYWOOD]
