Apotheke Owner Albert Trummer Arrested By Fire Dept.

Albert Trummer, the flamboyant Austrian owner and head bartender of Apotheke, was arrested early Sunday morning by undercover fire marshals who had learned of Trummer's habit of putting on fire shows inside the Chinatown lounge. Apotheke received several tickets during a visit in Mid-may, but when the marhsals returned this weekend, they saw flames that leapt two to three feet in the air." He was promptly arrested, and the bar shut down for the night. A night in central booking has helped Trummer see the error in his ways. He tells the Times, "I’m an artist. I’m a mixologoist. I’m a cook. But I’m not a pyrotechnic maniac."
