Les Halles Sees the Light After Four Years of Scaffolding

Left picture from NYC Go

A tipster sends in a photo of Les Halles Downtown, noting "Fidi's Les Halles is free. Sidewalk sheds came down at Les Halles on John Street....been up at least four years????" And it's true—a hostess confirms the shed came down this week after three or four years hiding the facade of the restaurant. Cuozzo actually wrote about the situation back in 2007, commenting, "the place now finds itself in the wretched penumbra of a construction job that's supposed to be good for downtown - the MTA's Fulton Street Transit Center project, which has chewed up streets and sidewalks all around the eatery...its façade and entrance now stand buried under the end of a long, gloomy sidewalk bridge." No more.
