A tipster with a pretty good track record emails in to share two mouthwatering rumors. First up, he says that The Spotted Pig's Ken Friedman and his chef and business partner April Bloomfield are eying an abandoned 10,000 square foot Kinkos at 102 North End Ave. down in Battery Park City. Meanwhile, he says that restaurateur Danny Meyer has taken over two spaces in the Embassy Suites hotel complex next door. A BPC renaissance? The residents won't be able to take it!
For his part, Friedman says there is absolutely no truth to the rumors. And we're moved to believe him. Danny's team is being more of a tease:
"As you may be aware, we have openly expressed our intention to expand some of our businesses. As such, rumors often circulate about potential openings in different neighborhoods across the city. We have decided not to comment on any of these rumors until we have something concrete to share. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new openings.”
The neighborhood would be uncharted waters for the two restaurateurs, but perhaps there are no serious restaurants down there for a reason (no offense Chevy's). Let's just keep this one under surveillance.
