Is the Flatiron District ready for blindfolded dining? Dans Le Noir, a French chain that specializes in "dark dining" and staffs only blind waiters has found a space, almost nine months after it announced it would be seeking out a permanent location in New York. Dark dining isn't new to this city, but this would be the first restaurant that focuses solely on the trend.
Work has already begun on their new space on 24 East 21st St. between Park Ave South and Broadway, and while they haven't met with the Community Board yet, signage on the door reveals that at least one neighbor is up in arms about the concept. Apparently, it's not a restaurant but rather a theme park nightmare. Chances are they'll be airing those grievances at a public hearing taking place on June 2nd.
