Italian Sandwiches in Soho; Giant Ice Cock at The Spotted Pig

New, 1 comment

SOHO— Flo Fab reports that Michele Colombo, an ex-adman from Milan, is opening a sandwich shop over on Grand and West Broadway next week called Salume: "...he will offer more than 30 combinations, each named for a place in Italy, made to order and mostly meat-based from prosicutto, mortadella, bresaola, salamis, speck, and others, freshly sliced by Guiseppe Bologna, the head chef, and his team. Many have cheeses, roasted vegetables, condiments and greens..." His 'panini' (these are not pressed) are $10 - 14. [Diner's Journal]

INTERNETS— Someone just started a group called "1,000,000 strong against accursed Ice cream truck jingles." Right now it has 32 members. [Facebook]

WEST VILLAGE— Following the Gay Pride Parade on June 27, The Spotted Pig will be closing down half the restaurant to throw a party. Look forward to a "giant ice cock" that will dispense shots, DJ Clint Beastwood, and drink specials. [EaterWire]

FREEBIES—A Ben & Jerry's truck will be giving away free samples throughout the city starting Monday and ending on July 4. By the end they will have given out 50,000 samples. Follow them here. [EaterWire]
