Robert Shaliman, owner of the popular (but in some circles reviled) downtown nightlife spots Spitzer's Corner and Fat Baby, is looking outside the LES for his next project. Way outside. He's signed a lease on a 6,000 square foot former industrial bakery in Greenpoint, just north of McCarren Park. The space on 33 Nassau has long sat empty, and Shaliman snatched it up after the landlord cut the rental price by 40 percent.
The restaurant and bar, which will have outdoor seating, won't open for another few months.
