A UWS tipster notices a sign on the recently closed Bar Bao space publicizing a liquor license hearing for the new tenant, Ditch Plains. And chef/owner of the West Village restaurant Marc Murphy confirms the expansion north, saying the lease isn't signed just yet but it will be in a week or so. Of course, the news comes just a week after he revealed that he's also bringing his surfer seafood shack fare to the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The 5,000 square foot space within a gorgeous building on West 82nd was originally going for $22,000 a month. Perhaps the Landmarc chef has worked out a more favorable lease. They hope to open by September.
