The jury's still out on whether not Shake Shack's Danny Meyer is eying a space within the Embassy Suites complex in Battery Park City. And word is The Spotted Pig's Ken Friedman looked at a 10,000 square foot abandoned Kinkos but decided against taking it. But there is a little glimmer of hope for the banker residents of the food wasteland on a landfill that is BPC. And that hope is called Le Pain Quotidien.
The Belgian chain—which is opening a new branch in Central Park's Sheep's Meadow this week—will take the ground floor retail space in the new luxury eco-friendly condo Riverhouse. Which means celeb buyers like Leonardo DiCaprio and Tyra Banks—and the hordes of starved civilian locals—will finally have a place to get a decent sandwich in the area (no offense, Chevy's). They are shooting to open on July 4.
