Echoing a Post article from February, the Daily News reports today that the Dept. of Health Shuttered 27 percent more restaurants in 2009 than in 2008, and raked in $872,122 more in fines. They argue the uptick due is their increased efficiency and ability to get to 99 percent of restaurants compared to 2008's 80 percent. It is definitely not because they want to rake in some more money for the city. [NYDN]
