Bobo, the somewhat charming restaurant in the West Village, hasn't been heard from since their policy to charge guests for water made the news. As the warm weather approaches and they prepare to open their beloved garden, it seems that Carlos Suarez's restaurant has another trick up its sleeve. A source forwarded Eater an email to Bobo's friends and valued customers, alerting them to the opening of their brand new private salon above the swanky two floor restaurant. But like any good parlor club, Bobo's comes chock full of rules and regulations.
The salon will only be open on Friday and Saturday nights from 7 PM until 2 AM and will only be for approved guests. However, according to the introductory email (full transcript below), "guests may bring up to five guests, though you must accompany them at all times. Your access is not transferable." How private! How glamorous. One lucky tipster managed to get into the opening and shared this review.
It was awesome, very chill, more like a lounge/parlor than a bar. All we did was ring the buzzer to the roof and go up four floors and voila. Drinks were AMAZING. Nice bar snacks, too. The official word is the place doesn't exist--not sure if there's a membership policy or not, but nobody checked our names or anything, we just buzzed, they let us in, and that was that. Only open on Fridays and Saturdays, though, for now. Place is hot!Hot indeed! With all of those stairs, Bobo may be giving Mike's Apartment a run for its money.
