1) East Village: Signage has gone up at Penny Farthing, the new gastropub from the people over at Phebe's that is opening in the former Cafe Deville space on 3rd and 13th. Things are shaping up inside, but workers say it will open in three weeks. [PLYWOOD]
2) Tribeca: A reader sends in a couple shots of Arqua at 281 Church St., a restaurant that is going to reopen as Il Matto later this year.
3) Greenwich Village: Another tipster sends in a shot of Masala Times, the new restaurant opening in the old Aamchi Pao/Indian Bread Co. space on Bleecker St. Their tagline: Very Spicy. Very Bollywood. [PLYWOOD
4) Greenwich Village: Grub Street reports that Astoria's Bare Burger is opening another branch, this time in the former Society space at 535 LaGuardia. Organic burgers, which include some made from ostrich, bison and elk meat, are paired with organic beers. Though no opening day is set, the menu is already up outside the space and on the website. 5) Harlem: NYC Food Guy has some more details on Mel's Burger Bar. Nick Tsoulos, owner of Patsy's Pizza and Goodburger, is the man behind the project, and the burgers will feature a Pat LaFrieda blend and will be flat griddled. Additionally the restaurant will offer 20-25 beers on tap. Tsoulos is aiming for a late June or early July opening. [PLYWOOD]
6) Corona: A new restaurant called Gabbana is opening in Corona, Queens in the next few weeks. Chef Ricardo Cardona will be serving up modern Dominican cuisine in a bi-level restaurant near Citi Field. [PLYWOOD]
7) Midtown East: Midtown Lunch notices signage for Yummy Yummy Falafel Bar on Lexington between E. 55th and 56th streets. The sign outside the store advertises “Falafal bar, free salad bar, coffee bar, hummus, bourekas, soups.” [PLYWOOD]
8) Hell's Kitchen: Life with Food and Drink hears that the West Side Steakhouse is now slated to open in June on 10th Avenue between 43rd and 44th. [PLYWOOD]
9) Carroll Gardens: Pardon Me For Asking offers a preview of Karloff, a new Eastern European style cafe serving soups, latkas and pierogies. Located in the former Tea Lounge space at 254 Court Street, it's set to open in the next two months. [PLYWOOD]
