Shake Shack Experiments with Peanut Butter Bacon Burger

New, 9 comments

Recently, for one day only, the Shake Shack on the Upper West side offered a seemingly Sam Mason-inspired menu item—a peanut butter bacon burger. For $5.50, they served a single plain Shack Burger (no lettuce, tomato, and sauce) slathered in peanut butter and topped with squares of bacon. Luckily a correspondent from NYU News was on hand to offer the insta-review:

The flavors at play here are complex. You get that meaty saltiness that bacon offers paired with the meaty, savory flavor of Shake Shack's excellent burger patty and the sweet saltiness of the peanut butter. The salt is pretty overwhelming and it somewhat ruins the flavor of the patty...It's an interesting creation that at least satisfied my curiosity, if not my taste buds.
Oh, and also, the peanut butter dripped everywhere. Staff told this NYU kid that they were considering adding it to the permanent menu.

Did anyone else witness this Frankenburger? Drop us a line.
UPDATE: That pb 'n' burger will be available again on Saturday.
