Matt Abramcyck, the owner of the charming and very successful small Tribeca bar Smith & Mills and the nearby sports bar Warren 77, plans on opening a restaurant in the old Delphi Restaurant space at 109 West Broadway. Tribeca residents will remember this is the space that Bouley tried and failed to turn into a Japanese restaurant (now planned for his former Danube/Secession space down the street) after it closed in '07. The theme will be South American with a focus on organic ingredients, and it will have just 27 tables and no TVs. The Community Board committee "was nervous about more nightlife so near Sazón and Ward III...But members were also pleased that such a prime location—in a celebrated building that has since gone to seed...is being brought back to life." They restricted his hours to 2 AM from 4 on weekends but gave him a pass.
Meanwhile the owners coffee shop RBC NYC are hoping to open a small wine and tapas bar with a 10 course tasting menu and a reservations-only policy next door at 75 Worth St. CB1 approved.
