Over the weekend the Times filed a trendpiece on neighborhood bailouts, touching upon the local fund raising efforts for coffee shops and neighborhood hubs Vox Pop and Bread Stuy, the West Village old timer The Pink Teacup, and of course, the hold out of Avenue A, Ray's Candy Store. The piece was well timed, because Ray's supporters just launched a new fundraising effort: an apparel and accessories line. To answer the obvious question, yes, the line does include a thong. 100 percent of the profits go to the elderly owner of the store who has been having trouble of late making rent.
