More Details on John McDonald's Upscale Soho Pub Revealed

New, 3 comments

Last week, news broke that Lure co-owner John McDonald was opening a new spot with chef Josh Capon in the old Centovini space at 25 West Houston. Today McDonald chimes in with some of the crucial details:

The as yet unnamed restaurant will have 70 seats and will feature an upscale pub-style menu, "anchored by a few burgers and a dozen other items." Natalie Tapken, the sommelier at Lure, will create a serious wine by the glass program, Josh Pickard (the FOH mastermind behind Locanda, Lure, and more) has signed on as partner, and design firm Meyer-Davis (Locanda, Mas) is working with McDonald to create the new look. Most crucially, McDonald adds, "Given that so many local restaurants have disappeared - Honamura An, Jerry's, Soho Kitchen Wine, Zoe - this will be a very neighborhood driven spot, no reservations, moderately priced, and open lunch/dinner 7 days, late on weekends."

And lucky for Soho, the wait won't be long—the team is hoping for a quick turnover on this one with an opening in May or June.
